It’s been a long while since we’ve had a holiday in the UK and had completely forgotten how much amazing scenery, good food and accommodation is available right here in good old blighty! We had booked a “get away from it all” cottage in a tiny hamlet called Gawthrop in the beautiful Dentdale
A spectacular journey through the dale bought us to the cottage which was every bit as beautiful as described on the owners website
There were no end of things to do some very local some further afield. Kirkby Lonsdale is the nearest “big” town and was a joy to wander round exploring the varied shops and cafes. Dent village was walking distance from the cottage and the two local pubs kept us happy, supping the local 8.5% pear cider!
One day we decided to try out Hardnott Pass and Wrynose Pass – both with stunning scenery and scarily steep climbs and descents – 33% gradients on a single track road really tested the driving skills, handbrake and gears on the BigAnt car!
A really awesome area of the UK to visit and appreciate what a beautiful country we live in.
